Please read through this brief list of studio policies to ensure that we get started on the best foot possible!
- Lesson Structure and Pricing:
We offer both fully private lessons and overlapping "buddy lessons" at a discounted rate. Students whose lessons overlap with another child's tend to be much more motivated to practice, develop greater listening skills, benefit from the opportunity to play/sing more duets and overall have more FUN! During the one-on-one portion of your lesson we focus on repertoire, technique and composing, then when your buddy arrives we switch gears to focus on theory, rhythm, music history, duets and more. There are two options for buddy lessons:
- 40 minute buddy lessons (20 minutes solo+20 overlapping time): $120/month
- 60 minute buddy lessons (40 minutes solo+20 overlapping time): $185/month
Solo lessons are also available at full price:
- 40 minute solo lesson: $130/month
- 60 minute solo lesson: $205/month
Your first month’s tuition will be due upon enrollment in order to reserve your time slot.
*ADULT STUDENTS who are not able to commit to a weekly slot may purchase a package of (4) 60 minute lessons for $225, to be scheduled whenever student and instructor are both available. Lessons must take place within 3 months of purchase.*
- Home Practice (Piano):
It is crucial that you have an appropriate instrument on which to practice assignments in order to make progress and thoroughly enjoy the piano learning process. Acoustic pianos should be tuned once or twice annually (ask Mrs. Mandy for piano tuner referral). Digital pianos and keyboards are acceptable provided they have touch sensitive, weighted keys and a sustain pedal.
- Tuition, Calendar and Late Fees:
The 2019-2020 studio calendar runs September 9th through June 1st with breaks for major holidays. Tuition includes 30 lessons, as well as our time spent lesson planning, all materials including books, sheet music, binders, printing and shipping costs, a growing library of piano games, recital costs and much more. All of this is divided into 9 equal monthly installments due no later than the 1st of each month (April’s tuition is due the last week of March), or can be paid upfront by September 1st for a 5% discount. All payments are non-refundable. A 5% late fee will be added to overdue accounts for each week payment is late.
Since I understand most families’s schedule vary during the summer months, lessons from June-August will be scheduled and billed separately.- Cancellations:
While 33 lessons are scheduled from September-May, only 30 are included in tuition to allow for up to 3 teacher absences per year should circumstances such as sickness or inclement weather arise. If your teacher needs to use one of these absences we will let you know ASAP and monthly tuition will not be affected. If we do not need to use sick days, consider the extra lessons a bonus gift from us!
Students are encouraged to communicate with each other via the Attuned Piano Families Facebook group or MyMusicStaff "swap list" if a conflict arises. Your teacher MUST be informed of any swaps ahead of time in order to verify with both parties. If a "swap" cannot be arranged, a make-up credit will be issued which can be redeemed when/if an opening appears during regular teaching hours. Lessons canceled or missed with less than 24 hours notice will not be made up.- One Final Note…
Music lessons should be the highlight of your week! If there is anything going on in your life that is causing practicing piano to be a source of stress rather than joy, PLEASE communicate with your teacher so that we can adapt our lesson structure and/or objectives to meet the student’s individual needs. We’re here to help!
